Who is Archangel Michael? However, in this setting, Archangel Michael is not a personal name, but a Title. Whoever bears the title becomes the supreme commander and Chief Praetorian of God's angelic host, entrusted with leading Heaven's warriors against the forces of evil. These forces include the Seven Heavenly Virtues, or better known as the "Betta's" Thus, while the individual who holds the office may change, the authority, duties, and legacy of Archangel Michael endure. Why is Michael in The Betta Chronicles? As the leader of the Seven Heavenly Virtues, it is only fitting that Archangel Michael serves as the author and keeper of these "Chronicles", recording their deeds and preserving their legacy for future Archangels. How Old is Archangel Michael? Michael and the other Archangels exist beyond the confines of our normal understanding of space and time. To mortals, it would seem as though they live forever, unchanged by the passing ages. In truth, however, they simply live their lives as we do. The passage of time, and therefore age itself, is experienced differently by these beings. How old the Sixth Michael remains unknown to mankind. To us, his lifespan appears eternal, but appearances are deceiving. Like those who bore the title before him, the Sixth Archangel Michael is not without beginning, nor will he reign forever. For "Archangel Michael" is a sacred office, not a name, and even the Chief of Heaven's Hosts shall one day pass his mantle to another. Does Archangel Michael Have More Than One Form? In his Human form, Michael appears much like you or I, allowing him to live among God's people without drawing attention to himself. However, when the need arises, he may instantly assume his Angelic Form. Now, each of the Seven Heavenly Virtues is associated with a sacred color. The color of Archangel Michael is White, representing the Light of God. In his Angelic Form, Michael is shrouded in this divine radiance, granting him anonymity and greatly improving his normal abilities such as strength, dexterity, instinct and agility . It is ONLY in this form that he may wield his divine power, known as "The Light of God." Through it, the Chief of Heaven's Hosts carries out his sacred duty to protect God's people and wage war against the Seven Deadly Sins and Evil doers alike. Why does Archangel Michael have no eyes? Unfortunately, bearing the title of Archangel Michael comes with a great price. In order to become the leader of the Bettas—the Seven Heavenly Virtues—the chosen bearer must be personally knighted by God, known among the angels as Alpha. This sacred rite requires the future Archangel Michael to stand in the presence of God Himself. However, no created being can behold the face of God without consequence. Such is the brilliance of His glory that those who gaze upon Him are forever deprived of their sight. Thus, every bearer of the title Archangel Michael is left eyeless, a mark of both sacrifice and divine favor. It is the price paid for the Title. Yet Michael is far from helpless. Through the many gifts bestowed upon him by God, he is able to walk, speak, fight, and carry out every task as though he possessed ordinary sight. In many ways, his perception surpasses that of mortal eyes. For though the Archangel Michael cannot see the world, he walks forever in the "Light of God". |
